New to oak framing, I am embarking on my NVQ through the OFTF, while self-employed through my own company (www.conkerconstruction.co.uk).
I would be very keen to work for an experienced oak framer/company on a part-time basis (ideally 2 days per week, although I can be flexible and commit to full-time for short durations) if anyone knows of anyone seeking a helper?
My background:
I'm a general carpenter and Chartered CIOB Builder - my business specialises in garden rooms, kitchen renovations and small extensions.
A background of residential renovation and construction work, I have worked for various contractors, learning how projects are delivered both on the tools and some site/project management experience.
I gained a degree in Building Surveying from UWE, (while still working on site 3 days a week..a tiring few years!), which sparked my fascination in sustainable construction and conservation.
I then worked for a main contractor specialising in Passivhaus construction in Bristol, before gaining my Chartership and setting up my own company.
I have also just finished renovating my own first home, sadly with no oak framing although I'm sure the next one will incorporate some!
